Conservative Dentistry
Conservative Dentistry

Conservative Dentistry is the branch of dentistry which is concerned with the conservation of teeth in the mouth. It embraces the practice of operative dentistry and endodontics, and includes various kinds of direct and indirect restorations of individual teeth in the mouth.

Primary goal of Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of sequelae of dental caries and includes the techniques and procedures to restore the teeth to full function & appearance in an aesthetically pleasing manner with as little loss of healthy tooth structure as possible. It also involves performing root canal treatment and associated surgical procedures to rid the tooth of its offending malady The treatment provided include various fillings, root canal treatment surgical endodontics, endodontic implants, bleaching, & management of traumatized teeth.

prosthodontics
Prosthodontic

Dental treatments provided by the Prosthodontist. As defined by the CDA, Prosthodontists restore esthetics, function and comfort with artificial substitutes. These artificial materials constitute a wide variety of restorations including fillings, dentures, veneers, crowns, bridges and oral implants.

Restoring Damaged Teeth

Damage to the teeth can occur during the development of teeth or caused by caries, failing restorations, trauma, teeth grinding, exposure of teeth to acid (diet or disease) or reduction of salivary flow. Prosthodontists provide services such as fillings, veneers and crowns to address each patient’s concerns. The complexity of every dental condition is variable and could range from minor intervention to comprehensive treatment.

endodontic treatment
Endodontic

Endodontic therapy or root canal therapy is a sequence of treatment for the infected pulp of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and the protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbial invasion.

Millions of teeth are treated and saved each year with root canal, or endodontic, treatment. Remember, root canal treatment doesn't cause pain, it relieves it. Inside the tooth, under the white enamel and a hard layer called the dentin, is a soft tissue called the pulp. The pulp contains blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue, and helps to grow the root of your tooth during development. In a fully developed tooth, the tooth can survive without the pulp because the tooth continues to be nourished by the tissues surrounding it.

Contrary to jokes about the matter, modern endodontic treatment is very similar to having a routine filling and usually can be completed in one or two appointments, depending on the condition of your tooth and your personal circumstances.

Jaw (Dental) wiring
Dental Wiring

Jaw (Dental) wiring is a medical procedure to keep the jaw closed for a period of time. Originally, it was used as the mandibular equivalent of a cast, to fix the jaw in place while a fracture healed.

Jaw wiring is performed by attaching orthodontic brackets to the teeth, and wrapping pliable wire either around or through the brackets. The wiring is configured to place the patient's lower jaw in a semi-closed resting position. This permits a moderate amount of jaw movement and relatively clear speech, but inhibits the ingestion of solid foods, forcing patients to adhere to a liquid diet.

pediatric-dentistry
Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentists are dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teen years. They have the experience and qualifications to care for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood.

Children begin to get their baby teeth during the first 6 months of life. By age 6 or 7 years, they start to lose their first set of teeth, which eventually are replaced by secondary, permanent teeth. Without proper dental care, children face possible oral decay and disease that can cause a lifetime of pain and complications. Today, early childhood dental caries—an infectious disease—is 5 times more common in children than asthma and 7 times more common than hay fever.

dental implant
Dental Implants

A dental implant is like an artificial tooth root used in dentistry to support crowns and bridges that replace a tooth or group of teeth.
Dental Implant is a titanium screw like structure, which is anchored into the jawbones and functions similar to a natural tooth. Dental Implants can be placed in areas where natural teeth are either lost due to decay or trauma or when a tooth cannot be saved and has to be extracted.
Dental Implants have two main treatment phases. Firstly, the Dental Implant is placed into the jawbone. Secondly, the Dental Implant has a tooth like crown placed on it.
These two stages have been traditionally performed with between 3-6 months healing in-between. Where appropriate, the two stages are now being performed at the same time.
It is the most conservative replacement for a missing tooth, as the adjacent teeth are not touched, unlike in a bridge.
It is the only replacement for a missing tooth which stabilizes the underlying bone.
It is as good as a natural tooth in terms of efficiency of chewing, looks and ease in speech.
If maintained by the patient, the implant can last a lifetime.

Invisalign
Invisalign

Invisalign, clear plastic aligners adjust the position of your teeth gradually. The treatment can correct misalignment, overbite, underbite, crooked teeth, and overcrowding, provided that problems are not too severe. By using the device for between 20 and 22 hours per day, your teeth will be perfectly aligned.
The advantages of Invisalign go beyond aesthetics, making this device popular with adults and teenagers alike.
It is comfortable. Aligners are less than a millimeter thick and fit close to your teeth. No tightening is involved as with braces.
It is removable. You can take out your aligners for eating and for sports.
You will maintain good oral health. You will have no problem brushing and flossing your teeth. The aligners are easy to care and keep clean.

SmileMakeovers
Smile Makeovers

Veneer is a thin layer of tooth like material, which is placed over the existing tooth surface with minimal preparation, to improve the esthetics of a tooth with regards to color or position. Multiple veneers can close spaces between teeth, lengthen teeth, provide uniform color, shape and symmetry and make the teeth appear “straight”.

There are two types of materials used to fabricate a veneer; composite resin and dental porcelain. A composite resin veneer is directly placed (built-up in the mouth) by the Dentist. In contrast, a porcelain veneer is indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory and later bonded to the tooth by the Dentist.

Custom designed Smile Makeovers can be affected to suit the individuals age, personality, image aspiration and built to give maximum impact to the smile using veneers.

TeethWhitening
Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening can make your smile look more attractive and younger. Teeth tend to get discolored due to aging, by medications and chemicals or stained by beverages such as coffee and certain types of wine. However it is important to know that Whitening will not correct certain forms of discoloration. Also the results of Teeth Whitening are subjective to the patients expectations.

Dental-Bridge-and-Crown
Crown & Bridge

A Crown is a dental restoration otherwise known as “a cap” which covers the entire tooth.

A Bridge is placed in case of a missing tooth/teeth with teeth on either side of the open space. The teeth on each end of the space are prepared and used as anchors for support.

We use a variety of crowns and bridges to cover the damaged area and increase the aesthetic appeal of your smile. Right from fitting the crown to making the adjustments and helping you get used to the implant, we provide a holistic treatment approach that facilitates our patients as well.

We provide a variety of crowns and bridges, such as Ceramic Crowns (Emax, Zirconia) and Porcelain fused to metal (Ceramco).

extraction
Dental Extraction

Dental extraction (Exodontia) is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable. Extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as are extractions of some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment.
The most common reason for extraction is tooth damage due to breakage or decay.
Simple extractions are performed on teeth that are visible in the mouth, usually under local anaesthetic, and require only the use of instruments to elevate and/or grasp the visible portion of the tooth. Typically the tooth is lifted using an elevator, and using dental forceps, rocked back and forth until the periodontal ligament has been sufficiently broken and the supporting alveolar bone has been adequately widened to make the tooth loose enough to remove. Typically, when teeth are removed with forceps, slow, steady pressure is applied with controlled force.
Surgical extractions involve the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed, either because they have broken under the gum line or because they have not erupted fully. Surgical extractions almost always require an incision. In a surgical extraction the doctor may elevate the soft tissues covering the tooth and bone and may also remove some of the overlying and/or surrounding jawbone tissue with a drill or osteotome. Frequently, the tooth may be split into multiple pieces to facilitate its removal.

Metal_braces
Braces

Metal braces are the traditional method of orthodontic treatment and are usually what people think of when they think of orthodontics. Metal braces use small metal brackets which are attached to the front surface of your teeth, and a soft archwire that threads through these brackets. By tightening the archwire at various stages throughout your treatment, and using elastic bands to put pressure on the brace system, your teeth are gently guided into position.
Metal braces are the most cost-effective option available and offer fantastic results within 12 to 24 months. Patients can choose coloured elastics to brighten their braces. This is a effective teeth straightening option. Small brackets are relatively comfortable to wear.

DentalJewellary
Dental Jewellary

Dental jewellery is a brilliant way to add sparkles to your smile and stand out of the crowd.
Dental jewellery offered at our clinic is made and certified one, and is available in different colours. During a painless procedure, a dentist fixes a jewel on the tooth surface. The jewel does not damage tooth tissues and has no side effects – except for the increased charm of your smile.

Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment

Endodontic or root canal treatment may be required when the chamber inside a tooth and its roots have become infected or compromised. This infection can be caused by extensive tooth decay or traumatic injury to the tooth. A root canal involves treating the infection and allowing you to keep that tooth.

During root canal treatment, the damaged nerve of the tooth is removed and the tooth chamber/canal is cleaned. The canal is then sealed in a sterile state to prevent further damage. This process is usually completed over two or three appointments to ensure that your tooth is completely free from any infection or symptoms. Root canal treatment is completed under a local anaesthetic to ensure that our patients remain comfortable throughout the procedure. We also have lots of sedation options available if you want a truly pain free experience. A tooth that has undergone root canal treatment then requires a crown or filling over it to ensure strength and longevity.

Periodontitis
Gum Disease

Periodontitis or gum disease is the infection of the soft and hard structures that support your teeth: that is your gums and the jaw bone that surrounds the base of your teeth. In its early stage, known as gingivitis, the gums become swollen and red due to inflammation: the body's natural response to the presence of harmful bacteria. The presence of this bacteria is usually due to poor oral hygiene. Other risk factors of gum disease include: smoking, diabetes and periods of significant hormonal change (such as puberty and pregnancy).

If left untreated, the harmful bacteria involved in gum disease can lead to irreversible damage and even loss of the tooth. The treatment and management of periodontitis is crucial as it has also been linked to other systemic conditions including some forms of heart disease.

Periodontal treatment involves cleaning away the harmful bacteria and build-up of calculus above and below the gum line. The health of the gums is then monitored closely to assess for healing. Periodontal treatment is always completed under a local anaesthetic to ensure the treatment is completed in comfort.
